A Few of My Favorite Things

Babies smiling back at me, when I’ve made a funny face at them.
Birds swooping and diving in for the offering I’ve been allowed to leave them.
Offering me song and sanctuary while I’m contemplating everything…
These, are a few of my favorite things.

Green leaves dancing together to fool me, if I close my eyes, into thinking,
Maybe just beyond these, there’s a hidden, unexplored waterfall,
and a cave behind just waiting for an adventurer like me.
Imagining all the beautiful places, people, the beings.
The sights I might see, in the moments resting between.
Me and my destiny… These are just a few of my favorite things.

Memories, sometimes are the best and worst cases for me.
I sometimes am better off with my eyes on eternity. Remembering.
Everything is a gift to me, a tool to utilize as I learn to fly…
It took some time to find my wings, but now,
they too are of my favorite things.

I love looking up at the stars, I have the big dipper resting over faded scars.
Freckles, in the shapes of constellations. Every time I see them shining, I feel my heart swell.
I watch them until they seem to be dancing above me, reminding me from whence I fell.
