What really goes down when a dam breaks?
Did it blow all at once or did it start with an easy-to-miss slow leak?
What made the most impact in the wake of the torrents?
Where did the water flow once it broke free?
Just a few questions worth internalizing… like;
What vital misalignment causes a structure to crumble and fall away?
Were there inconsistencies in the surroundings leading to the breakdown?
Did the pressure manifest from a specific corruption point,
is there any way to pinpoint it?
Or was the eruption the result of a general fracturing due to constant pressure and a lack of upkeep?
What catastrophes followed the water breaking through?
How does it impact me and you, and what lifeforms were impacted most?
Reflections like these always leave me with more deflections, like;
Floods are only one of nature’s methods of cleansing,
what do earthshaking events, in general, tend to produce?
The kind leaving tremors, cracks, and divides through the environment’s insides…
What unifying stakes lie in their wake…
What happens after a real quake?
Does the escalation heighten latent potentials in those living through the condition?
Or is disaster simply the perfect case study to reveal what mankind has always been made of?
Where do the loosened things land in the aftermath?
And what of those fastened tightly?
What carnage, more often than less, is left in the rubble forgotten?
How do we react in the face of disasters?
… Be they natural or man-made?
How do we behave in the days following?
Just a few questions I’ve been asking lately…
and it all started with the idea of a dam breaking.
